Why Ticks Should Tick Us Off

There are several species of ticks that transmit disceases to our dogs and cats. Some are a threat to us as we can be infected by some of the same diseases as our pets, the most well known being Lyme's disease. Other diseases are Rocky Mountain Spotted fever, Erlichiosis, tularemia, Babesiosis, anaplasmsis, Cytauxzoonosis and rickettsis. The tick needs to feed on blood in order to reproduce and act as vectors in the transmission of these diseases. Hence it is of paramount importance to prevent the attachment of these parasites so we can protect our pets and ourselves from these potentially life-threatening diseases.
